I challenge myself every 6 months to wear everything in my wardrobe. It really does help me connect with my style and garments. I resell or give away my old pieces, as well as loan/style for special occasions.💕

Wonderful article, thank you, Tina!

Thank you Sheila! I love your commitment to circularity and wearing your closet, it's really inspiring and has kept me going as I rewear all of my pieces in 2025. You're so right about being connected to your style - I totally feel this by wearing it all.

Love this. I really do try year-round to undergo all these practices. I think it helps when you actually ENJOY doing it? Like my tailor is SO NICE it’s like fun to go visit him for repairs or hemming. Fab tips all around!

I'm currently going through a phase where I'm challenging myself to wear all the clothes in my closet in 6 months and if I really don't gravitate towards it, it goes in the donate pile. The bummer with this is that I don't think there's a way to customize these items for workability because they're not just a matter of "I don't like this style", it's a matter of "this clothing type doesn't fit my lifestyle." Primarily in settings of: I bought a dress online for a specific event and haven't worn it again because there hasn't been a comparable event to wear it to. This is the challenge I face, which makes it hard to want to repurpose :(

That is a great phase to be in Holley - wear it all! I agree about some clothing not fitting your everyday lifestyle. I look at occasion wear like formal dresses as their own category where they don't get a ton of use, but they serve a specific purpose. Love that you've found a workaround by sharing your closet with your friends though - a perfect circular moment :)

Yes yes yes to volunteering! I will scream it from the rooftops that our most precious resource is time and to donate time is far and above the most important way we can all support a just and equitable society. Also - I've had it on my bucket list forever that I want to learn quilting so I can repurpose my old t-shirts (from summer camps, etc.) so live a new life as a nice little blankie - functioning to promote warmth and nostalgia.

Loveee your passion for volunteering Jackie - and your volunteer work is incredible. I was just talking to someone the other day that has a quilt made out of their old favorite t-shirts and how special it is to them. I would love to see a pic of the final result when you have the time to make it happen :)

I have some thrift store finds that I need to alter. I really need to learn how to sew at some point.

That's on my list, too! I just got my graduation dress from TRR and the stitching is unraveled in several places and it's been a process trying to get it mended. It's such an incredible skill to have, especially since mending has a high displacement rate.

Great read! I’m in the process of cleaning out my closet, hoping to repurpose my current wardrobe or donating what I no longer wear or need. Thank you for the motivation!

I've been using Trashie for about two years. It is super easy to use and love the different reward options!

Oooh, thank you for this! I saw that they take e-waste in addition to clothing which is so exciting. If you don't mind sharing, did you start using them because of the rewards program, or was that a bonus?

I started pre-Trashie rewards when it was affiliated with the brand For Days as the Take Back Bag. The Trashie rewards just happened to be a bonus!! I recently bought an e-waste box for all of the random cords and other things that have appeared as we remodel our home.
