5 Days, 5 Looks, 1 Blazer
Wearing my new-to-me blazer five days in a row in the name of responsible fashion
If it’s not obvious, I love fashion with a capital L followed by a string of eeeee’s and three heart eye emojis. This is extremely helpful for a career in fashion buying, but not as helpful for my budget.
I’m always so excited when I get something new that I’ll wear my [insert item here] multiple days in a row to the point where people must wonder if I own anything else. Case in point: after a few months of The Frankie Shop Corrin Blazer living in my
obsessions, the price dropped, it was Shop More, Earn More, and I had store credit - the perfect add to cart trifecta.Since one of the most sustainable fashion actions you can take is to get more wear out of your wardrobe, I pushed myself a smidge further than usual and wore my new-to-me blazer all week. As an homage to my favorite 2010s era Vogue series 5 Days, 5 Looks, 1 Girl, I give you five days of me wearing the same blazer styled (more than) five ways.
Day 0: Try On
Like most of what I buy on TRR, this was a roll of the dice since my blazer was final sale and I’ve never seen it in irl1. I was unclear about the shoulders when I tried this on since they didn’t read quite so bold online. I’m into a strong shoulder jacket, but it’s a delicate balance since I have broad shoulders. I’m currently getting the most insane 80s-esque shoulder pads altered on a preloved blazer, so I’m keeping this option in my back pocket if these are too much by day five.

Day 1: Errands + Virtual Networking
If you saw my interview with
, you got a sneak peek of this outfit that I wore for running errands and a virtual networking chat. I kept it minimalist with my secondhand Agolde Criss Cross jeans, daily jewelry, and Ganni ballerina flats. My sunglasses were a recent chic party favor and have zero UV eye protection, but I love the pop of color so much that I wore these under my enormous Solbari UPF hat and hoped for the best.Day 2: Coffee Date + Networking
Now that school isn’t taking up the majority of my creative brain space, my goal is to get back to wearing more dresses and skirts, although denim will always be my first love as you can see from my Indyx.
Day: My recently graduated friends and I are calling this our “LinkedIn and Lattes” summer where we meet at coffee shops to work on our resumes with the #littletreat of a latte. And what better place to wear a dressy outfit2 than my favorite coffee shop where everyone works at a tech startup and the uniform is jeans and a logoed fleece vest? I met my friend J for our first L&L session and it was an ideal warm up for a networking event later that night.
I wore my secondhand Anine Bing dress with Ganni flats and mesh socks and loved the juxtaposition of texture, proportion, and color. This look is edging me closer to my HG vibes of Div Ravindran's perfect outfit.
Evening: I changed into pants and added another jacket layer since San Francisco is reliably chilly and windy at night, and this evening did not disappoint. Also: if you’re visiting SF soon, please check out this post before you start packing so you don’t end up buying an outrageously priced Fisherman’s Wharf sweatshirt out of desperation.
The shoulder pads were growing on me and I felt like I wasn’t crossing too much into football territory when the women at the check in table complimented my bold shoulders. I then proceeded to watch J in awe as she effortlessly approached groups of people to introduce herself and chat. J was friends with everyone in the room by the end of the night and it was inspiring to see. One of my 2025 goals3 is to walk up to groups of people I don’t know to introduce myself at networking events, and I’m learning from the best.
I’m happy to say that most of my outfit was resale via TRR: The Frankie Shop Eva Padded tank and Port Pleated pants, Isabel Marant studded belt, Anine Bing cropped leather jacket, and Jenny Bird earrings. My firsthand items were semi-sustainable: Vejas from their inaugural 2019 corn waste leather launch, my vegan Stella McCartney bag is celebrating her 9th birthday, and Catbird recycled gold4 jewelry.
Day 3: Appointment + Errands
Today I kept my look more casual for an appointment and grocery store run. I shared elevated capri styling the other week and this sporty outfit is the inverse, but still made me feel pulled together for a morning of errands.
This outfit features my ancient Gap Fit leggings, a hand-me-down white t-shirt, a preloved baseball cap, and my sad little mesh flats whose hole is growing bigger by the day. I was really feeling this look, a great reminder that the most basic and comfortable pieces can be styled in ways that still bring you joy.
Day 4: Coffee Date
I met my friend M at the other coffee shop where people tend to dress chicly > techly and went with another dress/blazer combo. Leopard is my neutral print, and my TRR mesh Ganni dress is my most worn leopard piece. My advice: snap this dress up if you see it at resale, it’s an easy one-and-done outfit.
My signature footwear look is an athletic sock and anklet, and this styling toned down the polish of the blazer and statement of the pleated mesh skirt. I’m here for an outfit with aesthetic tension and this is an easy way to make dressy looks feel less precious.

Day 5: Book Club
As part of my 2025 plan to push myself outside of my comfort zone, I went to a book club meetup where I didn’t know anyone. I live by the motto look good, feel good and my clothing shouldn’t strangle my body, so I went with an oversized pair of preloved Agolde Balloon jeans (the precursor to the barrel leg silho that dominated 2024) and a ribbed tank that’s been with me since 2020.
Since I already wore my blazer with jeans, I changed it up by tucking in the pocket flaps for a streamlined look, adding silver through my new-to-me Jenny Bird Doune hoops and Stella heart bag, and wearing a v-neck for a day to night feel. I was especially thrilled about this since it was warm enough inside to put my jacket over my shoulders (!). My outfit gave me the confidence to approach a table and ask if I could sit in the last chair and keep the group’s conversation going.
With my well-worn blazer in need of dry cleaning, I’m happy to report that I have a solid five looks to rotate for casual, sporty, and dressy occasions, with a sixth look in the works paired back to my sheer linen skirt.
Next Week
Something that I’ve been teetering on the precipice of for the last few months is using affiliate links. I’ve been reading fashion blogs and Instagram since the beginning and would get frustrated when a favorite influencer turned affiliate linking into an obvious cash grab. I’m also concerned about how these may contribute to the consumption cycle in a country with the highest number of new clothing items purchased per person worldwide.
On the flip side, I’ve found some of the pieces that I wear constantly through trusted fashion creators, and want to support their work through affiliate links. I also think that we’re in charge of our own shopping destiny and the use of affiliate links shouldn’t impact our agency when it comes to purchasing decisions.
If you’re new to affiliate linking,
5 wrote a brilliant post about this called Affiliate Links & Me that I highly recommend reading.
If the environment and my budget weren’t holding me back, I would be a prolific shopper. But since they are, the bulk of my wardrobe is secondhand, mostly through The RealReal. When I buy something firsthand I have to see its true longevity potential since the 30 wears rule no longer cuts it.
I didn’t use affiliate links this week, but I’m planning to trial them next week. They’ll be used on things that I own, love, and plan to wear years from now. They won’t be used on fast fashion. They might include items on my wishlist. All links will be clearly disclosed. I’m always open to your thoughts in the comments.

That’s it for this week, thanks for reading! What’s the last thing you bought that you couldn’t stop wearing (and did you wear it five days in a row or is it just me)?

Making the decision to buy secondhand sight unseen involves an intense mixture of reverse image searching, Reddit-ing, and Substack chatting.
At least I ruin every outfit by refusing to take off my smartwatch.
I have non-fashion goals, can you believe?
Acknowledging that recycled gold isn’t considered fully responsible for a plethora of reasons that you can read about here.
I trust Kelly’s taste and would not hesitate to click through her affiliate links as a way to support her Substack.
Only you Tina could take something a classically simple as a blazer and turn it into a FASHION item. Your creativity and commitment to sustainability is next level and I loveeee seeing it in action! And I hear you on the affiliate link thing- but I always go back to so long as it’s truly authentic, everyone deserves to be compensated for their time + efforts xx
I loveeeedd all the looks!! The blazer looks so fab on you. Also taking notes for when I acquire a wool version.
ps - as for affiliate links, I think you should use them! you're ultimately curating or providing a "service" to someone. I'm obviously biased since I use them, but I think your audience can also tell if you're trying to cash grab or linking things that are thoughtful! I think you 1000% fall in the latter, especially with your writing and how you approach shopping. More than anything transparency is key!
